The Novice/Beginners Squad generally is the starting point from those who have taken part in our Learn to Row course, or who may have rowed a little before elsewhere but have been not yet tested their ability level.

Although the Novice/Beginners Squad members are the least experienced at the club, there is still a great deal of dedication and commitment, with a mixture of training sessions on water, ergo & gym work, flexibility, fitness and core strength.

The water sessions involve trying out both rowing (eights and fours) and sculling (quads, doubles and singles) to gain wider experience and find out what people are most suited to. There are also opportunities to join in with more experienced crews to benefit from their knowledge and to further develop technique, stamina and confidence.

If you would like to enquire about joining, or would like further information about how to start rowing, please contact us.
