Evesham & Gloucester Head Results

Stourport Juniors bagged a handful of wins at the recent Evesham and Gloucester Head events, racing against good opposition.

On the 1900m course at Evesham, Belle Murphy and Sophie DiMambro won by 16 seconds over Headington School Oxford BC who came second in the field of seven other crews.  Dan Glover (J13) and Molly Clarke (WJ14) both sculled exceptionally well to win in similar size fields.

Stourport’s WJ13 quad of Sophie DiMambro, Molly Clarke, Christina Butcher, Belle Murphy, Hattie Murphy – Cox, rowed up to WJ14 and secured an impressive second.  In the same event, Stourport’s second WJ14 quad of Georgina Luxton, Amy Furminger-Burrows, Lauren Rhodes, Julia Miller and coxed by Dan Glover rowed a determined race to come in seventh place in a field of eleven.

In the later Division, the WJ14 double sculls both raced well to come second and third in a field of eight.  The win of the day came from Katie Sweeney in the WJ14 single scull event, beating four other crews from Headington and Cardiff with a time of 9:49, to win by 2 seconds.

There were several other competitive performances in the J15-J18 categories, notably the double scullers, Shahin Bogdonazli and Luke Moraity with a time of 7:55 but losing to a strong Gloucester Hartbury crew.

Stourport’s J13 & J14’s travelled to Gloucester Head on Sunday 25th October to race over the 1750m course.  In the morning division, Dan Glover rowing up in the J14 single sculls event won again for the second weekend in a row with a time of 07:37, and Ben McNally producing his best row yet to come fourth in the field of six.

Both of our two WJ13 double scull crews, Molly Clarke/Christina Butcher and Sophie DiMambro/Belle Murphy, came first and second beating AB Severn and Ross.

The afternoon division saw both of our WJ14 doubles without opposition, but both finished with good times.
